If you are like me, you may be excited about things opening up again and you may have a million things you want to do! I want to write, read books, hike, visit friends, exercise, do projects around the house and yet I often find myself watching tv, scrolling my phone or sitting on my butt.

In this video I talk about how the students are adapting to the new normal of school in Ontario, from a teacher's perspective. Their strength and resiliency are admirable and what they are going through is life-altering.
What is personal development and why do I make it a daily part of my life? For me, personal development means being in a life long relationship with myself. Who I am at 45, is a completely different than the person I was at 40 or 35, or 30. As we grow and change, it is important to stay connected with the person that we are becoming as we are constantly in a state of "becoming". The disruption caused to our daily lives by Covid-19 has been traumatic for everyone. Trauma is when there are residual psychological effects caused by a distressing or disturbing experience. As our children return to school in the coming weeks, it is vital that we as parents and educators are compassionate towards their trauma, that we know they may be all over the place emotionally and that we understand they will all need to process this pain and fear differently. It is vital that we proceed with compassion and awareness.

Life is so fast-paced but a year or so ago I stopped saying that I don't have time. Time is our most valuable resource. Spend it wisely. Make the time to do what you love.
