It’s time to digitally detox, folks! If you’re anything like me, I’ve had my phone in my hand constantly since the beginning of the pandemic. If you have a tween or ten at home, it’s likely they have too.
With school starting next week, I want to make sure that I am physically AND mentally present for my students. I am finding that stepping away from my phone for intervals of time is not as easy as it looks, so I’ve been practicing a gradual digital detox. If social media and cell phone use are a constant distraction for your kid too, why not have them practice stepping away from the phone for short periods of time? Start with 10 minutes and increase from there. Have them notice how it makes them feel and how frequently their mind drifts back towards it.
Together, we can overcome the cell phone compulsion so that we are ready to learn and to enjoy each other’s company face to face!
